Designing a Restaurant Like a Creative Studio
A look at how creativity extends beyond the kitchen, influencing everything from our space and atmosphere to the way we approach hospitality.

When people hear the word studio, they often think of designers, architects or artists. Rarely do they associate it with a restaurant. Yet from the very beginning, that was exactly how we imagined this place. Not simply as somewhere to serve food, but as a creative environment where ideas are constantly explored, refined and shared. Every detail, whether it's a dish, a chair, a playlist or the way a guest is welcomed, is approached with the same curiosity and care. Creativity isn't reserved for the kitchen. It's part of everything we do.
"I've always admired creative studios because they're driven by curiosity rather than routine. They encourage experimentation, welcome new perspectives and see every project as an opportunity to learn. That's the culture we wanted to create here. We don't separate design from food or hospitality from creativity. Every decision, no matter how small, contributes to an experience that feels thoughtful, welcoming and genuinely human."
That way of thinking influences decisions that guests may never consciously notice. The proportions of a table, the warmth of the lighting, the choice of materials, the typography on the menu and the rhythm of the music are considered with the same attention we give to flavour and presentation. Individually, these choices appear small. Together, they create an atmosphere that feels coherent, calm and unmistakably our own.
Design, for us, is not decoration. It is a tool for shaping how people feel within a space. A well-designed environment quietly supports conversation, encourages guests to slow down and allows the food to become part of a much larger experience. The goal isn't to impress through excess, but to create an atmosphere where every element feels purposeful and naturally connected.
The kitchen follows the same philosophy. New dishes are approached much like creative projects—through observation, research, sketching, testing and continuous refinement. Ideas are shared openly, challenged respectfully and improved collectively. Rather than searching for perfection from the outset, we value curiosity, iteration and the confidence to change direction when a better solution reveals itself. It's a process that feels remarkably similar to the way architects, designers and artists develop their work.
Perhaps that's why we rarely think of the restaurant as something finished. Like any creative studio, it continues to evolve with every season, every conversation and every new idea. The menu changes, the space adapts and our understanding of hospitality grows alongside the people who shape it each day.
In the end, creativity isn't something we switch on when developing a new dish. It's the mindset that connects every part of the restaurant. From the first sketch of an idea to the final plate arriving at the table, we believe thoughtful experiences are created the same way meaningful design always has been—with curiosity, collaboration and a willingness to keep refining what already exists.
"For us, creativity isn't a destination. It's a way of thinking that continues to shape everything we do, every single day."
